What this journal is now

We cleared the archive on purpose. The old posts were a different desk voice. This site starts again as the public notebook of Dark Stone Capital.

Dark Stone Capital is a trading company. We trade our own capital in US markets. The goal is simple: run a sharper desk every week — not a louder one.

What makes the firm different is how we run it. AI is operating leverage across research, markets, risk, writing, and the day-to-day work that used to eat a small desk alive. People set the standards and make the capital calls. AI helps us cover more ground, keep a clean record of what we saw, and spend more time on decisions that matter. We are not replacing judgment with a black box. Risk, taste, and accountability stay human.

This journal has two tracks.

Research Distills. Rare, plain-English versions of work we do on names and themes — filings, structure, how we read a chart or a profit-and-health compare. Process and levels. Not buy calls. Not our live book.

AI desk / operating model. How the firm actually runs: agents, stack, and process lessons as we build. Written for future-us and for anyone trying to run a small desk with real tools instead of costume.

Desk research packets stay internal. What you read here is what we choose to publish after a scrub.
